Alfred Karl, Al, Morhammer of New Port Richey, FL, died peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2023, 4 days before his 92nd birthday. He was born in Vienna, Austria. In 1951, he came to America and settled in Buffalo, NY, employed by Ford Motor Company, initially, as a welder. He worked his way up to manufacturing engineer and was with Ford for over 35 years. Al also made use of his training as a plumber and enjoyed woodworking, creating beautiful furniture from scratch. He was an active member at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in New Port Richey, Florida and the Beloved Community of Old St. Patrick’s Church in Chicago, Illinois.
Al served in the US Army from 1953 – 1955 and became a US citizen during that time. In 1956, he married (the late) Shirley Reinig. They had two children, (the late) Rae Marie and Mark. Al is survived by his current wife of 18 years, Jody, his son, Mark, his son-in-law, William Payne, “bonus” children, Jessica (Brad) Bonn, Nathan Wade. Kurt (Amanda) and Philip Gustafik, grandchildren, Elizabeth Morhammer, Seth (Samantha) Gezik, Lillian and Kathryn Gustafik, and great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Gabriel and Carter Dillree.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Conference, 8320 Old County Road 54, New Port Richey, FL 34653, would be appreciated.
