Port Richey

Deborah H. Shelton, a beloved member of the Port Richey, Florida community, passed away

peacefully on December 6, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, July

26, 1951. Before making her home in New Port Richey, Deborah grew up in Owensboro KY and

graduated from Spalding College, Louisville KY, in 1976 with a BS in Nursing. Deborah was a

Kentucky Colonel and long time member of the West Pasco Junior Women’s Club.

Deborah was predeceased by her husband, Dr. David Shelton; her parents, Victor and Mary

Hudson; and her sister, Rebecca McCaslin. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Melissa

Welch (Brett Welch), Bryan Shelton, and Patrick Shelton (Jackie Shelton); her grandson,

Jaxston Shelton; her sisters, Judy McCrackin and Vicki Rafferty; and her brother, Ronnie

Towrey.

Known for her generous spirit, kindness, radiant smile, and deep commitment to her community,

Deborah touched the lives of many. Her warmth and compassion left an indelible mark on all

who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of life service honoring both Deborah and her late husband David will be held on

January 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church, located at 9230 Ridge Road, New Port

Richey, FL 34654. This joint service fulfills Deborah’s heartfelt wish to commemorate their lives

together after David’s passing during the pandemic made a public gathering impossible.

Deborah’s memory will continue to inspire those who knew her. Deborah requested

remembrances be in the form of donations to Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa FL or to the New

Port Richey Rotary Club for either the Santa Program or the David Shelton Scholarship program

for Pasco Hernando State College.

May she rest in peace alongside her beloved husband.
