Elsie Berniece Poindexter

January 17, 1930 — January 27, 2025

Port Richey

Our sweet, beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Elsie Berniece England Poindexter, arrived in the arms of Jesus on January 27, 2025.

She is survived by her children Allen (Barbara) Poindexter, Linda (Ron) Williams, and Charlene (Chris) Nichols. Her grandchildren are Tammy (Jimmy) Larkins, Jason (Cristi) Poindexter, Amy (Michael) Kistler, Dustin (Carmen) Williams, David (Becky) Williams, Ryan (Kasey) Nichols and Kelli (Chad) Corey. Her great-grandchildren are Cayden Larkins, Andie Larkins, Colin Kistler, Morgan Kistler, April Ward, Joshua Williams, Liam Nichols, Arwen Nichols, Ava Nichols, Harper Nichols, Eli Corey, Amelya Corey, Reagen Corey, Emlynn Corey, Uriah Corey, and Avery Corey. Elsie has one great-great-grandchild, Ashley Ward.

Elsie and her husband, J.L., moved to Florida from Oklahoma in 1993 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Her kindness, gentleness and hospitality were genuine and felt by countless people since she was a small child.

Elsie loved being in church, loved being with her family and she loved going on cruises. One of her favorite activities on a cruise was eating pizza and ice cream at midnight. She loved roses and enjoyed her gardens. She loved chocolate and would eat it as a food group when she thought she could get away with it. She also loved lemon drops and would hide them, and the chocolate from her family!

Elsie excelled in her life as a pastor's wife, although she wouldn't agree, and showed the love of God in her life to all.

Her favorite scripture verses were:

Psalm 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made;                                                                                                                                                               We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Elsie loved and still loves Jesus with all her heart and we, as her family and friends, know where she is for eternity. Those who know Jesus as Savior and King will see her again.
