Emerita (Mary) Rosado Hernandez was called to Heaven on January 31, 2022, at the age of eighty-seven. She was loved by many and cared deeply about her family and her faith community. Mary was born in Puerto Rico and moved to New York City where she met her husband of 68 years. She was an active member of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church and proudly served as Minister of Hospitality for over 30 years.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Evangelista Rosado and Santia Ortiz. She is survived by her husband Julio Hernandez, children Ana, Migdalia, Nelida, Julio Jr. and Sonia; fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, sisters, brothers many nieces and nephews.
Mary had a strong faith in her Creator and Heavenly father and always prayed for others. She was a giving, generous, considerate, and loving person. Mary always greeted everyone with a kiss, a hug, and some candy, which earned her the nickname “the candy lady.”
She will be missed by all who knew her.
