New Port Richey

Frank A. Kennell, 91, of New Port Richey, passed away on Friday, 28, 2025. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on July 9, 1933. He was the second youngest of five siblings, two sisters, and two brothers. He is survived by his youngest brother, William Kennell.

Frank is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie Kennell. He and Marie met in 1957 at the roller rink in Levittown, NY, where Frank was a skate instructor. They married in 1958. They have a daughter, Lynne Zuniga, and a son, Tomas Kennell, as well as two grandchildren, Joseph and Nicole, and three great-grandchildren, Aza, Colton, and Greyson.

Frank was actively involved in his kids' lives. He went on camping trips with Tommy for Boy Scouts and took Lynne to her first-ever concert at Nassau Coliseum.

Frank took immense pride in serving his country. He served honorably in the US Army Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, KY, during the Korean War, and he always enjoyed sharing stories of his experiences during that time.

Frank was a dedicated employee of AIL/Cutler-Hammer in Deer Park, NY, working as a supervisor in the electronics department until his retirement in 1991. Between 1961 and 1991, he also had his own business as TV repairman.

He thought it was important to stay busy and do meaningful work. That's why he worked until age 81, finishing his working years as a school crossing guard with the Pasco County Sheriff's Department.

Frank valued community service and dedicated 12 years as a volunteer with the Central Islip (NY) Ambulance Corp. He strongly believed in the importance of education, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from C.W. Post University in Long Island, NY, while balancing a full-time job and raising his two children.

Frank was a very active member of Saint James the Apostle Church in New Port Richey, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was also on the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) team, helping prepare adults for their baptism and sacraments into the Catholic faith. He served as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, St James Apostle Church, New Port Richey, FL, between 2006 and 2007.

Frank enjoyed family camping trips, traveling, photography, and woodworking.
