Herb was born at home in Niagara, WI on February 5th, 1941. He attended school in his hometown of Niagara and graduated in 1959.
Herb proudly served his country in the Army from 1962-1964. He was stationed in Honduras and then Mexico City for the CIA.
In 1964, he married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Lorene Chartier.
Herb worked at the Niagara Paper Mill for 42 years before retiring. He was a member of both the Elks Lodge 700 Grit Mountain and the American Legion Post MI 050. He worked at both volunteering as a sumner for Bingo. Herb also volunteered at the VA and proudly served in the Color Guard for many years until his health failed.
He enjoyed his weeks at the cottage when the children were small with their dear friends, his trips to Minn fishing with friends, and time at hunting camp in Fence with friends. After retirement he spent his winters in New Port Richey, FL, golfing and playing cards. He was a big Packer fan.
Herb is survived by his wife, Sharon; his siblings, Russell and Thomas Hagberg; brothers-in-law, Randy Harvath and Howard Chartier; sister-in-law, Ellen Harvath; and several nieces and nephews.
He was blessed with and deeply loved his two children: his son, Gary (Tammy) Hagberg, and his daughter, Lisa (Michael) Hagberg Dionne; four granddaughters: Rebecca (Jeremy) Hagberg Hartwig, Brittani (Johnny) Hagberg Martin, Danielle (Kyle) Dionne Hannah, and Miranda (Austin) Hagberg Roland; and eight great-grandchildren: Bryer Hagberg, Jayden Hagberg, Hunter Phillips, Carlyn Hagberg, Riley Hannah, Easton Hartwig, and Charlotte Hannah.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents: his father, Axel Hagberg, and his mother, Liana Hagberg; his brother, Roger Hagberg; his brother-in-law, Bruce Chartier; two special aunts, Selma Hagberg and Violet Dodd; his mother-in-law, Iola Harvath; and his beloved pet dog, Troubles.
Services will be held privately by the family.
