Lanny Wells, 71, passed away March 19, 2017. He is survived by his wife and best friend of ten years, Vanessa Moon, his sisters: Marita Erickson and Glenda Adams, his sons: Michael Wells (Jill Wells) and John Sushko (Brittany Wingo), and his daughters, Tammy Spearson, (Bill Spearson), Jessica Meek (Myron Meek), Tisa Ausburger, and Holly Moon. Lanny was blessed with nine grandchildren: Jordan Savoy, Angie Wells, Faith Wells, Lanni (Raynee) Meek, Devon Meek, Jillian Thomas, Mia Augsburger and Guy Meek. Lanny was born in East Chicago, Indiana to Carl Hardesty and Juanita Martin on December 26, 1945. He graduated from Highland High School in Highland, Indiana as part of the class of 1964 where he played for the school basketball team and was the co-captain for the Trojan football team. Wells was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Air Force. In Highland, Lanny owned a popular lounge known as, The Hideout. Wells moved to Spring Hill, Florida in 1982 where he resided until his passing. He was the owner of Wells Wheels in Hudson and the owner of L&L Antiques. He was retired from the Pasco County Sheriffs Department where he was a School Resource Officer at Hudson and Ridgewood High Schools. He later went on to serve as a bailiff for Judge Webb. After retiring from the Sherriff’s Department, Lanny went back to Pasco County Schools where he was an Administrative Assistant dealing with discipline at Ridgewood High School and Schwettman Education Center. There will be a viewing on Thursday March 23, 2017 from 5-8 at Faupel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Friday March 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of New Port Richey, 6800 Trouble Creek Rd. New Port Richey, FL 34653.
