Nan A. Carey

Nannie A. Carey, age 83, passed peacefully Saturday April 4th, 2020. She is preceded by her loving husband of 60 years, John P. Carey, and is survived by their daughters, Kimberly (Tom), Kelley (Joe), Krissy (Jorge) and their grandchildren Stephanie (Tyler), Shannon, John, and JP. Nan (Mamaw) loved family adventures, including beach vacations, a girls’ trip to Hong Kong, and many journeys to Disney World. She loved talking on the phone and spending time with her four sisters, who lovingly refer to themselves as “The Ya-Yas,” Nan was also an accomplished family chef, who passed down her favorite recipes for Greek fila, turtle brownies, pound cake, and pineapple surprise in the beloved “Carey Family Cookbook.” She was a lover of funny movies and flowers, a perfume connoisseur, and an expert at selecting the family’s Christmas pajamas every year. Most importantly, Nan was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. The family looks forward to celebrating their Mamaw at a celebration of life ceremony at a future date.
