Therese "Terry" Adele Ducharme, left us this past Monday afternoon March 25th. At 1:18 pm, on a beautiful day with the sun shining listening to her favorite music. She left us too soon at the age of 59, after a sudden and brief battle with cancer.
She was surrounded at the time by loved ones, those she held closest, her world: her husband Robert, daughters Chelsea and Elysia, sister-in law Susan, and honorary goddaughter and niece Nicole, all at her side.
Predeceased by her sister Bea, mother Rita, brother Wilfred, and sisters-in-law Madonna and Debbie, Terry leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience. Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband Robert; her children Chelsea (Chris) and Elysia (John); and sister-in-law Susan Scaglione, her 5 sisters and 2 brothers, as well as countless nieces and nephews and cousins.
She will also be dearly missed by her friends and co-workers from both Rhode Island and Florida.
Terry and Bob's love story is one of enduring friendship, youthful romance, and unwavering companionship. They first crossed paths as young teenagers and from then on, they shared laughter, adventures, stories, and endless moments of joy. They embarked on a journey of love that knew no bounds. It was just him, and her...always.
Together for 45 years and married for 38 to her devoted and loving husband, her best friend, her forever person, Bob.
For 45 years they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories, that ended with keeping their word in their vows, “till death do us part”
In her 25-year tenure as a nurse predominantly in the ICU, Terry exemplified the essence of selflessness, intelligence and empathy. From navigating the challenges of the COVID pandemic to comforting patients in their darkest hours, she touched countless lives with her kindness, and advocacy for those under her care. Fondly referred to as "Mother Therese" by many, she was a beacon of comfort and support to all who crossed her path. She adopted families for Christmas to give those less fortunate a warmer holiday.
She'd give you anything she had, as long as it wasn't her chocolate, time out of a good afternoon nap, her phone charger, or her favorite spot on the couch.
If she didn't teach you about standing up for what's right or about standing up for yourself, then I'm not sure you knew her.
Terry's vibrant spirit extended beyond her profession, as she found solace in music, books, nature documentaries, and the simple joys of life. She loved animals, taking in information about the world and its mysteries, and bad horror movies. Her laughter was infectious, and she cherished moments of laughter to tears with family.
In honoring Terry's profound connection to nature and her passion for growth, renewal, and love of the natural world, a ceremony and natural burial will be held to give her body back to the earth.
As we bid farewell to Terry's earthly form, may her spirit continue to inspire us to embrace life's beauty and cherish the bonds that unite us."
