Warren Leroy Casida went to Heaven with God’s Angels and a whole herd of ‘critters’ who have already crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on March 30, 2025; he was 76 years old. He was living in New Port Richey, Florida - where he had retired. He was born in Colorado and spent most of his life in Pueblo. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Virginia (aka Ginny) Casida, his son Clifton (Jodi) Casida, and his daughter Tisha Casida.
Warren has always been known as the “go-to” mechanic with anything to do with vehicles or mechanical repairs. He started his career as a mechanic as a teenager, spending countless hours in his Dad’s garage, eventually taking classes at the college, and then being hired at the Board of Water Works. He spent 30 years there as a mechanic. He took early retirement because of a brain injury incurred when a welder slipped out of its lift and hit him in the head (incredibly he survived the accident and overcame this injury).
His favorite pastime was spending time in the garage on various car and truck projects - the pinnacle being his IMCA Modified race car that he built and rebuilt to race at Beacon Hill Speedway. These were some of the happiest memories of his life - with friends and family looking on as his car #91 sped down the paved quarter mile track.
As a faithful husband and father, he was always there to help his family in any way that he could - that included with horsepower. The children’s favorite memories include all of the sports cars that were purchased, upgraded (with more powerful motors of course), and then custom painted by him - so that they always had the ‘coolest’ and ‘fastest’ vehicles of all of their friends.
Warren loved animals and was teased for his similar qualities to Saint Francis of Assisi. From the long line of cats and dogs that graced their homes, to the farm animals that entertained their growing children (horses, cows, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks), to the squirrels and crows that he would purposely pack food for to take to the park during lunch or “feeding time” in the morning - he was always caring for his ‘critters’. The family would joke about the rescued animals who found their way to the Casida home - “the deaf, the blind, the sick, the infirm of mind” - there was even an attempted rescue of a raccoon family. In Florida, he would jump out of the car in questionable traffic to do a “turtle rescue” at the prodding of Ginny. In his final hours, he continued to be surrounded by his chihuahuas who would want to be right next to him at all times - he was loved by these critters who only embrace unconditional love- just like our Papa.
Warren and Ginny spent their ‘golden years’ of retirement in New Port Richey with their son Clifton and his wife Jodi. Most every morning included going to a local or State Park, walking their dogs, and enjoying their coffee while taking in the sunshine and nature (and of course the occasional turtle rescue). They were able to enjoy some time on the beach, and lots of beers under the Florida sun.
He is loved forever more by his family and a long list of people who had the blessing of working with him, and being his friend. His kindness and wit were a part of many of our lives, and he will be missed terribly. However, he is now in Heaven with Jesus - and no longer suffering. We look forward to seeing our beloved husband and father again someday.
