William B. Odom II

William “Bill” Jennings Bryan Odom, 76 years old, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 2, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born on August 4, 1947, in Sherman, Texas to parents William Jennings Bryan Odom and Wilma Doris Kirby. He started his collegiate education at Texas Tech. He then proudly served in the Coast Guard as Helicopter Search and Rescue from 1967 to 1971 and in the reserve from 1971 to 1973. After serving, he completed his education at Queensborough Community College, graduating with his Associate in Applied Science – Electrical Technology in 1974 and then graduated from New York Institute of Technology with his Bachelor of Technology in 1982 and went to work as an Analog Electrical Engineer for over 25 years. 

He is survived by his wife, Martha; brother, Rick; children, Amy and Matthew, and her husband Glenn; grandchildren, Alanna, Daniel, and Gianna; nephew, David, his wife Samantha, and their four children; cousins, Joyce, Patti, and their children. Their love and support brought Bill great joy throughout his life. 

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, William Jennings Bryan Odom and Wilma Doris Kirby; dear brother, Michael Odom; cherished sister-in-law, Carolyn Winslow; and beloved daughter, Sara Odom. While they are no longer with us, their memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.”

In 1970, Bill met his wife, Martha Odom, and they were married for 51 years. Together, they adopted three children, Amy, Sara, and Matthew. He was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, uncle, aka uncle Tex, and cousin always putting his family first and cherishing every moment spent with them. 

Bill was known for his thirst for knowledge as well as an unwavering commitment to Christianity that permeated every aspect of his life. He dedicated numerous hours volunteering to lead Sunday services at nursing homes, embodying his deeply held beliefs through both word and deed. Bill made a difference in all the lives of those he touched. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community. 

We cordially invite you to join us for a visitation honoring Bill on June 7, 2024 from 10am-12pm at Faupel Funeral. All who knew and loved him are invited to join in honoring his memory, your presence and support during this time of remembrance are deeply appreciated. 

As we come to the end of this program celebrating the life of Bill, we are reminded of the impact he had on those around him. Though he may no longer be with us, his memory will live on through the memories shared by loved ones, his thick Texan accent, and endless stories he always had to share.

May he rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal love and grace of God.
