Larry J. Tirelli

If I were to pick one word to describe Larry (and I know that sounds impossible) I would say Passionate. Everything he did or said was with passion. Hot-headed or heartfelt. His arguments were intense and his love was romantic. He was a hard worker and love the land. He cleared our land by himself and his goal was that we would always have a roof over our heads. “I can’t give you much but you will always have a place to live.” He was not well educated but so very smart. Someone once said he was “dumb like a fox”. Others nicknamed him “Crazy Larry” because he lived life with such passion, in his mind recklessness was synonymous with fun. He worked hard and played hard. He loved the outdoors, from the beaches to the woods. He loved to hunt and was so proud of the trophies he won in bulls eye competitions. He loved anything fast n furious-from dirt bikes to motorcycles, race cars, and rebuilding classic cars. His favorite TV shows- Street Outlaws, Moonshiners and Naked and Afraid. He had a temper but yet was such a romantic. He always told me that he fell in love with me the first time he saw me and everything he does, he does for me. And I know that to be true. With that said, he was, however, quite the ladies man and he loved to flirt. He loved his family, as dysfunctional and Italian as it is. His daughter Lori is pretty much a female version of her dad and will always be daddy’s girl. He was passionate about injustices, always rooting for the underdog. “Don’t let them screw you over” he would say. He never minced his words; he would tell it like it is and tell it like he saw it. He was like a dog with a bone. He never gave up. His strength and will power is what got us through the last 5 years and will be my lifelong inspiration. He was passionate about politics; so much so that he made and wore teeshirts that said “GOP, Greedy Old Party”, this became an annual Christmas gift from me to him. He definitely was a people person, loved to hang out and party. The man could talk. He loved playing his guitars, listening to the Eagles, Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd, anything good ole rocknroll. He was definitely an animal lover-I never knew what he was going to bring home next, goats, ducks, rabbits, snakes, puppies and of course, he loved his kitties. Everyone is asking about funeral service/arrangements. We agreed on cremation and our plan is upon my death our ashes will be mixed together. The dictionary describes funeral as “a ceremony, a remembrance, a show of respect, to honor”. Larry never really liked funerals, except for the after party-Saluto! Our journey over the last 5 years has taught me many things. Most importantly, life is short – Live, Laugh, Love. So instead of a funeral, which he dreaded, please create your own remembrance, your own show of respect, your own way to honor. Throw an “after party”, play some Eagles, Lynrd Skynrd, Pink Floyd any and all classic rocknroll. Get together with friends at your favorite bar, have some moonshine and make a toast to Larry. Think of him when you see a classic car, a race car or motorcycle races. Make amends with family. When you believe in something, fight for it. When you see injustice, fight harder. Take in a stray, or two or three, and name one Larry. Live, Laugh, Love with passion. And from Larry’s lips to your ears, vote Democrat.
