John Hainey

John Hainey, 91, passed away peacefully at home under Hospice care on March 20, 2017. He was born in Blantyre, Scotland, and moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1957. In 1986, upon retiring he moved to Port Richey, Florida. He was pre-deceased in death by his wife of 45 years, Cathy. He is survived by his daughters, Mary and Catherine; son-in law Michael Kelly; grandson Christopher, his wife Shannon; great grandson Alexander; and Granddaughter Elizabeth and her partner Adam Paul. He served in the British Army in WWII. John was a lifelong avid fan of the Glasgow Celtic Football Club. He enjoyed reading, golfing and music-especially Scottish and Irish, but his first love was opera. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Felix Ullrich Council, Port Richey and was also a member of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul associated with St. James the Apostle Catholic Church. John loved his family unconditionally and was fiercely proud of all of them. A memorial service will be held at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, 8400 Monarch Dr. Port Richey, Florida 34668 on Saturday April 1, 2017 at 10:00 AM followed by a reception to celebrate his life at Fiddlers Green Irish Pub, 7813 Mitchell Boulevard, Trinity, Florida 34655
