Mr. Richard “Dick” R. Dwan, 85, passed away on Thursday February 9th after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease; he was surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home. He was the loving husband of Georgette (Thibideau) Dwan for 39 years. Dick was born on July 23, 1931 in Torrington, CT son of the late Francis and Mary (Roy) Dwan. Raised in Torrington he attended local schools. He was an avid sportsman in his youth. Among his many accomplishments were pitching a no-hitter for a semi-professional baseball team in West Torrington and scoring 96 points for Mel’s Diner basketball team, also of Torrington. He served on the USS Lake Champlain during the Korean War, which was actively involved in combat. Dick worked for SNET and retired after 32 years as a project manager. He had a love for boats and of the water. He was communicant of St. James Catholic Church of Port Richey, Fl. He is predeceased by his first wife, Marilyn L’Abbe, and his son Gary P. Dwan. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Richard F. Dwan (Brenda) of St. Pete, FL., Thomas J. Dwan (Melanie Cote) of Torrington, CT., Virginia L. St. Onge of New Port Richey, FL., Robert E. Dwan (Marianne) of Thomaston, CT., Ann S. Ray (James) of South Windsor, CT., Steven D. St. Onge of St. Clair Shores, MI., as well as twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Additionally, he leaves behind his brother Jack Dwan (Yuki) of Gilroy, CA., a cousin Fred (Romona) Teichert of La Crescenta, CA ., the Le Page family of Winslow, ME., and a special fishing buddy “Babe” Le Page as well as special friends Jeff & Penelopy Boudreau of Spring Hill, FL. Calling hours to be held at Faupel Funeral Home, 7524 Ridge Rd, Port Richey, FL from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday, February 14th , with a funeral mass at St. James Catholic Church, 8400 Monarch Dr, Port Richey, FL at 10 am on Wednesday, February 15th.
